The program as we have prepared it for you

Do remember that you are the highest priority during your 2 week stay with us here in Roskilde. We have arranged some events and sightseeing but giving you all an experience and memories for life is the name of the game for us in Roskilde South Rotary Club. We are still working to refine the program so at the present take it as our intensions, some events may have to change dates and others may change as well.

Saturday and Sunday July 18.-19.

You arrive to Denmark by plane, train or by car and we meet you whereever your arrivalpoint is and assure you get to your first overnight-stay with 2 of you, randomly appointed, hosted by one of our Rotary families locally. You stay with that family for the weekend.

Monday July 20.

We all meet at the camp which is a local Scout Camp. You meet some of our Club Representatives and then we check our accommodation for the duration of the camp and get settled – then we learn a bit of the entire group and take part in some teambuilding exercises.

Tuesday July 21.

The plan is to visit our Viking Ships many of which is replica of ships found in the fjord. More details to follow later.

Wednesday July 22.

During your stay a very large Scout Camp is in progress close to the City of Roskilde. On wednesday we have planned a bicycle-trip to visit the camp. It is the biggest such camp in Northern Scandinavia where they expect around 35.000 Scouts.

Thursday July 23.

Time to visit the local Land of Legends. A fascinating area showing old time living standard. More details might follow on special events.

Friday July 24.

Visit to our Roskilde Cathedral, built around year 1200, a central monument for Danish history and our line of Kings – 40 royal graves in and around the church. In 1995 the Cathedral was awarded UNESCO World Heritage. Later we take a walk in the old part of our city.

Saturday July 25.

We cross our fingers for at day at the beach ei. on the fjordside – another option could be visiting one of our castles named KRONBORG – still working on options.

Sunday July 26.

Sunday is most likely the day we go visit a small Go-Cart race track. Lots of fun racing these small carts. One of the Danish former F1 Racecar drivers Kevin Magnussen started his career on this track.

Monday July 27.

Week 2 we start with a trip to Copenhagen, visiting Christiansborg dated back to 1745-1794 later. Christiansborg is where our parlament resides and rule our country. Later taking a boattrip on the channels of Copenhagen and we are working to finalize the day with a visit to Tivoli, an amusementpark in the center of Copenhagen.

Tuesday July 28.

Time to visit a privatly owned Military Museum. Fascinating the many items the owner have gathered showing weapens and many items from WW2, tanks and uniforms etc.

Wednesday July 29.

Another day at a museum, this time however our Rock Museum. We might extend with another musical event later that day but will let you know…

Thursday July 30.

The big Scout Camp has finished and we plan a day together with the Scout Group that owns the camp we live in – activities are not finalized yet.

Friday July 31.

Friday is the official closingday where we clear out of the camp we have lived in, clean and leave it a bit prettier than we recieved it, celebrate our friendship with a barbeque-night all together and finally leave the camp together with your local hosts, to spend the weekend again 2 by 2 randomly selected to facilitate the easiest return to the airport during your departure homebound.
